Gatti not wanted in Roma………..

For many years cats have been a tourist attraction at the Largo di Torre Argentina , a collection of ruins in Rome where Julius Caesar was murdered.    The 250 cats at the informal refuge there cause no trouble and spend their days  strolling among the marble monuments and snoozing in the sun but city heritage officials have declared them a health hazard and insist they be removed.   Italian politicians have weighed in expressing concern about the archaeological site.

Surely all Italians should be more concerned about a sinking Venice and a sunk Concordia than wasting their time hounding a few harmless cats out of a sanctuary.
